Raymond Patrick "Stretch'' Whalen

was born Jan. 27, 1955
in Duluth to Leonard and Louise (Dodge) Whalen.
at 46, of West Duluth, he died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002,
in St. Mary's Hospital, Superior.

He attended schools in Duluth and graduated in 1973 from Cathedral High School.
Stretch worked in a variety of jobs.
He was a self-employed painter
and, in the winter months, he worked for Spirit Mountain and Mont du Lac.
He enjoyed photography and collecting agates.

Stretch is survived by his parents, Leonard and Louise of Duluth;
brothers Dennis (Sally) of Superior,
Bill of Grand Rapids and Tim of Duluth;
and a sister, Mary (Ted) Swift of Bridgeport, Mich.
